Who We Are

A Place Called Om Tribe

Jenny Brooke

Certified Yoga Instructor

Jenny has been working in the dental profession for over twenty years. Her draw towards yoga initially began many years ago to combat the occupational demands that dentistry can take on the body. When she became pregnant in 2013, she utilized yoga and meditation as a way to connect with her breath, understand her body, and prepare it for childbirth. After years of daily practice, it soon opened doors for her to a deeper relationship to the divine. It made her see herself more clearly, allowed more peace in her life, and gave her courage to speak her truth.
More recently her practice paved the way for her sobriety. It was during this dramatic life change that she really understood the connection of mind, body, and spirit as being one of the greatest sources for healing the whole ENTIRE self. She attributes her sobriety and personal healing journey to yoga and meditation and recognizes that “the issues live in our tissues”. This realization is what catapulted her enrollment to Yoga Teacher Training at Jai Yoga School in 2018, knowing she had to share her experiences and assist others in their healing journeys. She graduated Jai with RYT 200 in May 2018. To serve the recovering community, in September 2018, she became Certified Y12SR (Yoga of 12 Step Recovery) Leader. She has been holding space for Y12SR in both Albany and Schenectady counties.
Above all else, Jenny is a mother of two daughters. She realizes that the work we do to heal ourselves in this life is the most crucial for inspiring change for generations to follow. If not tackled, the addictions, traumas, and burdens we carry hold us down, and in turn weigh down the people surrounding us. She wants to inspire health and live by example, showing her girls and her community, that loving ourselves, service to others, and a deep connection to the divine, is truly what creates a joyous, peaceful, and more meaningful existence.

Ambar Ix Chel

Certified Baptiste Yoga Instructor

Ambar has been fascinated by the phenomenon of light and energy transformation ever since childhood. What began as life’s curiosity in Los Angeles, turned into an academic engineering pursuit at the Rochester Institute of Technology. It was in Rochester, NY where she was truly introduced to yoga. In the midst of majoring in Imaging Science (the study of light) and Mathematics, mental health and an addictive lifestyle had reached an overly stressed tipping point. Ambar found solace in the Baptiste Power Vinyasa sequence immediately. The intentional and vigorous flow helped ease the over-thinking mind at first, and then gradually moved into aiding a body-awareness founded on self-confidence. Through regular practice, yoga became the primary coping mechanism. At the same time, she was amazed by how the law of energy conservation and Newton’s laws of motion applied in each pose and transition.
Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, yet it can be continuously transformed. Our minds and bodies are an energy source that is naturally malleable in the direction of growth and meditative equilibrium. Yoga helps to harness that intention within ourselves.
Ultimately, Ambar thought it necessary to share how the laws of the magnificent universe had helped her recover past traumas through presence with whomever is seeking their personal transformation.

A little bit about Stress Fracture:

First, it’s mobile. I come to you. It doesn’t matter if it’s your home, your place of business, or a community location; it’s designed to make it easy for anyone to participate.

Second, not only is it designed to be entertaining, there is a specific community service model in mind. I want to collaborate with community organizations that are serving those in need, with an eye toward those that are survivors of domestic violence and rape. I also want to serve high stress professions such as law enforcement, and first responders. Other business models that exist focus only on the entertainment aspect but my vision is to go way beyond that. I want to be affordable so anyone can participate and envision fee’s that are below the current standard in the marketplace.

Barbara Stepniak

Certified Master Instructor for IET

Barbara is the Managing Director of the Center of Being, home to Integrated Energy Therapy®. She holds an AS in Transformational Psychology and a BS in Wellness and Fitness.

It was through her studies that she gained the love and passion for alternative holistic therapies. She is a certified Master-Instructor for IET®, Life Coach, Guided Imagery Coach, Mind, Body, Fitness Coach, Holistic Wellness Coach and Reiki Practitioner.

Barbara works with students and clients to empower them to engage in self-care. She helps them understand that it is in their power to create the life they want and they are in control of how they feel. Her work includes a mixture of techniques so that each student and/or client walks away with a toolbox of simple techniques they can use to improve the mental, emotional and physical wellness. It's all about education and realizing confidence is as simple as knowing we are capable of anything with the right mindset. It is the time to get those "issues out of your tissues" and live the life you love and love the life you live.

She began this path over 15 years ago, when her own life was at rock bottom. Losing both parents to cancer and three siblings in a short period brought her to very dark place. It was through her studies and incorporating the techniques she was learning that her life shifted in unexpected ways. She owes everything she has and who she has become to the techniques that are in her toolbox.
